I teach computer skills at my IL center and I find games help
the students relax, experiment more and fear the computer less.
Typing spepeds and accuracy improve much faster when the
student is having fun.

I agree entirely, Michele, games are simply fun, (unless they can
be somewhat educational for the younger or less traveled set),
and a communication device would fill a major need in the BN user
base.

Dear Sarah
When I tried the games, I used Braille and had no problem with
them. I
did not mean to say that they were inaccessible like the radio
etc, just
that, while they may be enjoyable, TTY seems to me to be more
important.
Sorry if I misled anybody on this.
Cheers!
Michele

I'll add my vote for trivia games. I do have a question, while
we're on
the subject. There have been a few posts recently that seem to
say that
the games are, like the media center and the FM radio, something
a deaf
person, or one who uses only Braille, can't work with. I would
like
anyone's opinion as to why this may be. The games seem
absolutely
accessible in Braille as far as I have been able to tell, but I
am very
interested in anyone's thoughts on the subject. No, the games
are not a
communication tool, and therefore aren't useful or desirable by
all, but
are they inaccessible for someone who doesn't use speech?
Thanks for any thoughts, and I hope no one thinks me insensitive
for
asking this. The only reason I haven't chimed in about the need
for a
communication application for the deaf-blind on the BN is that
there is
a vast amount of traffic already devoted to that topic, but I'll
cast my
official vote now for a TTY as well. BTW, it's T T Y, which
speech
insists on pronouncing TIE. <Smiles

Hi Listers. Now I'm really opening myself for some slack here,
considering what I just said about the games on the BN, but I was
wondering if it would be possible for HumanWare to adapt or
develop some
trivia games for the BN. I would much prefer them to the
adventure
games and would be happy for them to be an extra in the way that
the GPS
or multi-lingual software is. Or, I could imagine there being a
choice
at download time about what kind of games one would like on the
new
upgrade. Anyway, Trivial pursuit is my most favourite game in
the world
and I love watching trivia shows so any trivia games would be
great and
I'd much prefer to play them using my BN than sitting at my
desktop.
Cheers!
Michele
