Hi Joseph,

Actually, at least on my system, anyway, those files for Jaws beta 7.10 go
in:

c:\program files\freedom scientific\jaws\7.10\drivers

and then Braille or speech. And then brlnote for Braille or KGoldSA for
speech.

Patricia and others,
This is Joseph. First, I'll take a look at Keyboard Emulator function.

System requirements:
On the BrailleNote:
1. KeySoft 7.0.21 or later (KeySoft 7, build 21)
2. Connection kit:
On the Classic: serial cable
On the PK: serial cable, Bluetooth connection
On the mPower, same as PK

On the PC end:
1. Microsoft Windows 2000 or later (XP is recommended)
2. Freedom Scientific's JAWS For Windows 6.0 or later (7.0 is recommended)

This is also used for synthesizer. Now the real thing:
1. There is a utilty called JAWS PC Keyboard Emulator. It can be found at
the BrailleNote downloads site. Download the .zip file.
2. Unzip (extract or uncompress) the .zip file (for more information un
this, refer to the archive) using either the PC or Book Reader.
3. There should be a file called braillenote.jlb. Copy the file to the
folloiwng directory:
C:\program files\freedom scientific\jaws\7.0 (for JAWS 7.0)
Or
C:\program files\freedom scientific\jaws\7.10\braille (for JAWS 7.1, correct
me if I'm wrong).

Procedure (both keyboard emulator and synthesizer):
1. After you copy the emulator file, exit Windows Explorer. Then turn off
JAWS by pressing JAWS key+F4, then enter.
2. Connect the serial cable (recommended) to the BrailleNote. At the Main
Menu, select Terminal for screen reader.
3. Restart JAWS. (for JAWS 6.0 or later, press windows+r, type jawsxx where
xx is the version e.g. for JAWS 7.0, you would type: jaws7, then enter)
4. At the BrailleNote, the braille display should show the contents of the
screen. At this point, press space with I for input. You are now ready to
use keyboard emulation. To switch back to traditional mode, press space with
i.

For synthesizer:
1. There is a utilty that allows you to use BN as a synthesizer. It can be
found at the BrailleNote downloads page. Download the file and unzip the
file. You'll find 2 files named kgoldsa.jls and kgoldsa.jsf.
2. Copy the files to the directories mentioned above, except at 7.1
directory, substitue speech for braille.

The procedure is same as above, except that you choose Remote synthesizer as
opposed to terminal option. At the JAWS end, select KeyNote Gold SA or
BrailleNote as a synthesizer.
I hope this informaiton may help you.
P.S. If you want these files, contact me off-list at
