Subject: [Braillenote] Soft keys, What an idea!
Hi folks,
I realize this is a bit of a dream, but here it goes.
On many cell phones, there is a concept in use called "soft keys" There are
two or more keys on the phone which change function based on user
prefferences, or based on what the phone is doing at the time. Most often,
the function of the key is displayed on the screen. It is spoken by speech
software installed.
Wouldn't it be great if this functionality could be given to the bn,
maximizing the use of the entire display?
Just a thought, but what if the cursor routing keys, or possibly the braille
keys on the BT, could act as soft keys, performing what ever action is
displayed in braille on the display.
For example a file actions display, "press the soft key to perform the
action" print, save, delete, translate, all on the display at once, a block
commands display, Top Bottom Delete, Move Copy Append.
Or a "preset" display for the FM radio. Press the softkey above the preset
you want to listen to.
Just a crazy idea!
Rusty
