Dear Friends, HW Staff and Especially the Jackson Family:
Shock and a profound sense of loss doesn't even begin to describe my feelings upon learning of the tragic loss of Dean. As so many on this list have expressed so well, I too had gotten to know Dean in his tech support role and he truly will be greatly missed there.
However, I was also honored and blessed to get to know Dean as a friend. He and I were both night owls and through one time difference and another, and some 6,000 miles in geographical distance, spent many mornings on Skype talking about life, technology, spirituality and so much more. One of my fondest memories is of an impromptu Skype party we all had one night. It actually started as a tech support call, but went on for several hours and included 5 people from all over the world, 4 different time zones spanning about 22 hours, some take-out Indian and Chinese food and as I recall, a Cricket match being broadcast from Dean's end. . We talked, laughed, and even though most of us had never met face to face, felt that we were in the safe and loving arms of friends.
Dean gave me strength and counseling through a very difficult time in my life and I actually credit him with helping to save my marriage.
As I write this, I am sitting here feeling the sun rise over the desert, but I think this morning and many more to follow will be much quieter. To the Jackson family, please accept my sincerest condolences for your loss.
To Dean, I will miss you my friend, but truly believe that you are in a brighter place.
