lol. I didn't know that when I got mine and found out by reading the papers that came with it. I went to walmart and to get my hair cut, and trust me, I don't know what I'd have done sitting around the house watching it charge. LOL

FYI, in case you are not aware, once you receive your mPower, you will need to charge the battery for three hours, so be prepared for another three hours of anticipation. It might be a good idea to find something to do to pass the time, otherwise, the wait might seem interminable, especially since the mPower will be so close by! Perhaps it might be a good idea to leave the house in order to resist the temptation?

So Ronda, does this mean that I'll have to manually enter all of
my contacts when I finally get my m power unit? If so, I guess I won't really mine, but it sure would be nice if there was a way to avoid having to do it that way. By the way, if you had to wait on your unit like I'm being asked to do, how on earth could you stand it? hahahaha!! The excitement is eating me up.

If you have backed up your address list, you will not be able to
use it on the mPower. If they are regular documents, you can,
but anything that is a database will not be able to be restored.
I'm even more excited now for you to get this machine.

Hi Ronda! I'm currently running version 5.1, so please let me
know if I will encounter any conflicts while trying to restore
any files on the m power.----- Original Message -----

You will love your machine.

I want to make sure we have covered all basis as far as your
backing up files. What version are you running now? I ask,
because depending on your version, not all files may be able to
be restored. The address list, for instance runs differently
than on an older unit. Hope I'm making sense.

Hello Ronda! I really appreciate you getting back to me and
answering my question. Yes, I am excited beyond words, and I
really wish that I didn't have to wait so long to receive
something I've already paid for. The m power really does sound
like quite an amazing machine, and like you said, I'm sure it
will be well worth the wait. I just appreciate having access to
this list now because it sure helps to lesson the pain of having
to wait for my new notetaker.

You will discover that waiting for your mPower is well worth the
wait. Receiving email is so much faster, as is surfing the
internet. I use the Keybase section, which allows me to create
databases for my checking account, and other information. You
can listen to radio, do streaming audio, and play games, if
you're of a mind to do that. I am excited for you, and know that
you will be very excited.

Oh yes, I've heard nothing but good things about the m power, and
I can't wait until mine finally gets here. And speaking of that,
I wanted to know if any other of the list members experienced
such a long wait as far as getting your m power machine after
having paid for it? Unfortunately, they tell me that the units
are on back order, and even though I paid for it at the end of
March, I was recently told that I wouldn't receive it until the
first week or so in May. It's killing me, and I'm so glad that
I've finally discovered this list. Sure wish I had known about
it long ago. Lastly, seeing as how I'm about to be a new m power
owner, is there any features that those of you that already own
it can tell me about that you find to be really exciting? Right
now I'm using the voicenote clasic, and from what I've read about
the m power, there's been some major advancements made. Thank
you all.

Of course you like them all, else you wouldn't have chosen it!
Excellent fun!

And yes, do let us know how it works out for you.
You'll love the MPower!

Thank you for your input, and I'll go ahead and try what you have
suggested. If it's ok, I'll let you and the other members know
how I do as far as resolving the aforementioned issue. Oh, and
before I go, thanks for the comment on my choice of email
address. As you might imagine, I get lots of similar comments.
I enjoy them allddar ----- Original Message -----

Hi Isaih,
If you used the utilities menu to back up your files, you can go
back to the utilities menu, press B, then R, and follow the
prompts. If you just copied the files to your flash card, using
file manager, you can simply open the file you want in the usual
way, choosing "compactflash card" as your drive. There will
likely be better, clearer answers to your question from people
more experienced in giving instruction than I am. But I had to
respond, because I just had to tell you that you have a totally
cool email address! Well done!

Rachael
