I was in shock as I know many people are to hear the news of Dean passing away. I found out Wednesday morning from Virgie in a voicemail. I am just now trying to catch up some on email since I haven't checked it for a while. I know Dean was helping me or at least keeping me informed of any solutions to what might have happened with my MPower shortly after I got it. The last email I received from him was for me to just let him know when I could send in my MPower for the battery replacement. I was one of the people that lost everything on my flash drive and the battery replacement was offered free of charge and I really appreciated that. I never knew Dean personally but I know he will be missed more than words can say. My condolences to the humanware staff and to his family.

Subject: [Braillenote] DEAN, you will be truly missed

Wow, I can't believe it.

Dean has personally helped me with so many issues with my BN.
I live in Tucson Arizona and I would call him rather than wait hours on the phone with the CAL folks.

He would go way out of his way to help me.
As I'm not a PC user, he spent time talking to my administrative assistant and together we solved many problems.

Dean even called me on Saturday with a late breaking technical work around he thought of. The BN family, and our online community will really miss Dean's dedication.

I'm probably off topic, but I wanted to share my thoughts on Dean.

If there is a Tech Support Team up in heaven Dean has already joined the best of the best.

Frank M. Hernandez.

Subject: [Braillenote] Statement from Richard mander, humanware's
Chief Executive officer

STATEMENT FROM RICHARD MANDER, HUMANWARE'S CHIEF EXECUTIVE
OFFICER
It is with profound regret that I have to advise Dean Jackson,
HumanWare's
BrailleNote Product Specialist, passed away suddenly yesterday at
his home.
For the past three years, Dean made his cheerful presence felt
around
HumanWare. He has been a popular and valued colleague to all of
us, and
became a
friend to many on the HumanWare team.
Dean was deeply committed to his work and to BrailleNote
customers, and it
wasn't uncommon for him to be sending e-mails in the middle of
the night, or

making calls to the other side of the world at 4 AM. His work
administering
our BrailleNote user list made him a popular figure among the
BrailleNote
user
community. His attention to detail and team spirit had a
measurable positive
impact on the success of the BrailleNote through his work in our
Research
and
Development team.
Dean was also a talented singer, enjoyed work with the Internet
and audio
production, and played a key role in his church activity. His
life was
tragically short,
but he lived every minute to the full, and the world is a better
place
because Dean Jackson lived in it.
All of the staff at HumanWare worldwide wishes to express its
condolences to
Dean's family at this sad time.
Dean's funeral will take place at the Lincoln Road Bible Chapel,
66 - 68
Lincoln Road Henderson Auckland on Saturday morning at 11:30.
Darryl
Sherwood and
Jonathan Mosen will be representing us at the service.
HumanWare will also be working with Dean's family and local
church to
organise a memorial service in Christchurch for Dean's friends
and work
colleagues.
We give thanks to Dean for enriching our lives.
Sincerely,
Dr Richard Mander
CEO, HumanWare
