Hello:

Yes, if the stream is too large, i.e. is designed for a broadband receiver (Cable or DSL), you will get intermittant reception characterized by the stream starting and stopping or other weird noises.

If memory serves, I think the ACB radio stream has a stream suitable for dial-up listeners and if you make that choice, you'll get a pretty good version of the stream if a bit less high fedelity.
