Terri and list,

I do agree with you generally however, my infrared port adapter is working and I have 7.0. I recently embossed a newsletter. I then asked the question whether one needs to occasionally wipe clean the infrared surfaces to do away with finger prints, dust and no telling what else! If so, how is this properly done? I received no answer to this query yet. I have encountered some of your difficulties but then everything decided to work again.

Subject: [Braillenote] I can't emboss with my Mpower

Dear List,

I bought an infrared to parallel converter from Enabling Technologies so I
could emboss with my MP. The converter only cost $62.00 plus $10.00
shipping. I was able to emboss with it using Keysoft 6.2, but with Keysoft
7, I can't emboss most of the time.

Tech support says many of the drivers were changed in Keysoft 7 and I was
advised to buy a Bluetake which would cost me approximately $120.00 more.

This is unacceptable. First Humanware decides to do away with the parallel
port and their advice is to buy one of those expensive Edgeports. Then,
they ruin the drivers so I can't emboss with my infrared to parallel device
and they want me to shell out more money to buy the Bluetake.

I think Humanware should come out with a version of Keysoft which has the
drivers so my infrared to parallel device will work. Why should I have to
shell out more money? People should be able to emboss with the MP without
having to shell out gobs of money. If I had known Keysoft 7 would ruin my
embossing capability, I might not have upgraded. As it is, it cost me over
$300.00 to upgrade and they suggest I drop another $120.00 in their hands?
No way!

Do others on this list feel as strongly as I do about this issue?
