The RS-232-C spec specifies the electrical signals used in a serial port and NOT the type of connectors used. And just to make things interesting, in the back of the spec, they show 22 different wiring schemes for serial ports! By convention, a DTE or data terminal equipment has a male connector on it and a DCE or data communication equipment has a female connector. So to connect two DTE or DCE you need a null modem adapter or cable in the circuit somewhere. Hope I haven't confused everyone hopelessly! Brian -- No virus found in this outgoing message.
