Ok, this is a little complicated, but I'll explain the various options,
for KS 7

mPower :
F - battery calibration, keep logs on Flash disk - useful for sending to
me if the battery is not doing what it should
G - battery calibration, keep log on KeySoft System Disk - but if the unit
resets, you lose the log.
R - battery calibration, no log
Y - continuous cycle - more for our use than yours, but it may improve
battery performance - effectively, exercising the battery
K - attempt a forming charge - reasons are somewhat technical and we don't
recommend you do this unless asked to by Humanware staff. Certainly don't
do it when your battery is full, because it's done by time not by when the
battery reaches full charge.

the F, G and R options are pretty much identical apart from whether the
data is logged.

the classic does a few of these but not all - F, G and R should all work.

The PK doesn't have a battery gauge as such, it just looks at the battery
voltage and uses that to estimate remaining power. I can't remember what
options you can do on a PK, I'm sorry.

any questions?

regards,

Andy.

RE: [Braillenote] Support Information mode

This is Jospeh. There is a technical differences. When you use R switch,
the
battery compartment will be turned off, and when it goes flat, it will
restart the charge. When you choose F switch, the battery compartment will
not be turned off, which means that you do not plug your charger unless
the
batery goes flat. I'm not of the technical details behind it, so I'll
leave
this to HumanWare engineers.

Subject: [Braillenote] Support Information mode

Dear List,
I ran into a dilemma while trying to recalibrate my battery. The dilemma
I
came across was there is an option to run your battery flat by using the
letter f or to recalibrate using the letter r.
The dilemma I had was what does what and what is the distinguishable
difference between the two?
Thanks
Kevin
