Hello Terri and list,

My recording feature was awful when I first got my unit and I think they do have some problems with some units. I haven't been able to get an external mike to work properly in my unit but I really don't use the memo feature all that much. The recordings improved greatly when I installed the 7.0 upgrade in my unit but if the level is too high, the recordings are terrible, no level or anything. I decided I'd leave it and use it as is and not be without my unit since I use it for any number of things.

Yes, I have tried changing to the maximum volume and quality settings. No,
I don't have an external mike.

: Ottawa Canada
:
: I expect you have tried adjusting the microphone volume on your
: Mpower to minimize the noise it picks up.
:
: Have you tried using an external microphone? That should reduce
: the background noise it picks up from the Mpower a lot.
