Hi Michele,

   is it a classic or an mPower? if it's a classic, it will calibrate when 
it's fully charged, so as long as you flatten the battery completely 
before recharging, you don't need to mess about with support information 
mode (the calibration functions in there are intended to automate the 
process, but all you need to do is flatten the battery and then recharge). 
 If it's an mPower then a charge/discharge cycle will take about 10 or 12 
hours, but may need to be repeated.  If you hit SPACE it should tell you 
what it's doing at the time (e.g "initial charge : started at 11:39pm on 
Thursday ... has been charging for 5 hours 2 minutes ...").

The battery critical warning is based on voltage, so I have no idea why it 
would come up when the battery is in a decent state of charge.  Feel free
