Hi KC,

In Montana where I live, we don't have T-mobile or Singular wireless. Verizon is the largest wireless carrier we have here. I probably would have gone T-mobile if it were available out here. My wife had it while she was in Denver and she liked it very much. More and more of our friends have gone to Verizon and when one can call any Verizon customer on their wireless phone with no charge, it would be harder to switch carriers when we have the advantage of calling any Verizon customer free of charge, any time of the day or night. The phones we use are TTY compatible as well. We now use the LG VX4650 phones. I did some further checking on the air cards. They cost roughly $60 a month over and above your phone service. The lady I spoke with said they work with Windows 98, NT, 2000 and XP so I doubt they'd work with the BN. This is truly unfortunate! We're hoping to come up with some kind of solution so if either one of us doesn't have a network available, we will be able to get our EMAIL through the wireless service. We have had good luck at hotels though but GOODF is the first place where we haven't been able to use a notetaker. Dar stopped some of her lists so she won't be bombarded with EMAIL when she gets back!

I was having trouble with my ISP when on the BN list earlier. I had to unsubscribe for a time till I got the problem straightened out I hope. It is good to be back again!

Thanks for writing!

Jim

Hello Jim,

(It is good to see you on this List again!)

You may know that I've bee checking out wireless service and
cellphones. It is interesting that few people I know, either
blind or sighted are using Verizon. This prompts me to ask if
you have considered a different ISP? (My son, who is in the
Military, used one of the air cards you mentioned. It came from
T-Mobile. However, since he is going back to sea, he doesn't
want it any longer and switched to Cingular. He told me they
offered the best package for someone with a family--he has two
boys and the Cingular package also covers the younger one.)

Your wife has my sincere sympathy! Can you have her E-Mail
stopped for awhile?
KC
