Robert,
If you have that switch set to go straight into recording mode, it is just
possible that you're knocking it sometimes and have recordings on your disks
that you are not aware of having made. Take a look in your My Memos folder
if that could be possible.
I know I managed to do it once without my knowledge.
If this is not the reason then I do hope you can soon get it solved as I
can't currently think of another right now.

Hello List,
I have a problem with my recorder, I am using a mpower 32 bt, and when I
press the recording button on the side, it locks up the unit.
If I go to media menu, and choose record a memo and press enter on start
recording, it says insufficient memory, this is not possible, due to the
fact that the drive selected for saving memos is my 80 gb hard drive, and
it only has 10 gb full.
I might also add, that I have checked all of the drives, the flash disk
has 115 mb free, the keysoft system disk has 31 mb free.
I have performed a reset, a reset with 123 and a reset with 456 and
nothing has changed.
Any help will be much appreciated.
