I'm not sure I'd put a dummy plug in an output jack. It could damage
conponents if the volume is too loud. I'd stay with some kind of ear buds,
headphones or even an earphone if you can get it to work. I think this
truly is the simplest solution. One can get ear buds most anywhere or use
the ones which came with your unit. I never use mine but they would be
adequate for muting the music on power up.

I Always carry the mPower's small headset, which I can easily place into
the output socket if I wish to perform a reset during meetings, hence
there's no embarrassment caused. You may find a plug at somewhere like
Radio Shak which would just sit in the socket. (I purchased one once some
years back for sitting in a microphone socket so that you could erase the
rest of a tape.) There's the workaround to this one! <SMILE>
