Terry,
Well, in most cases the higher the capacity the higher the voltage. I think once you go above 4 GB cards the voltage goes from a 3.3 to a 5 volt. It also depends on what kind of cards they are, but in any event the mPower won't support 5 volt cards. I am sure you are able to find this type of information from the store you are buying the card from or it should be listed in the specification of the device.
Well, I hope this helps.

Kevin;
How do we know what the voltage is of our cards. I never heard of voltage for a card. A cf card was just a cf card, type 1 or 2.
How do we tell?

Subject: [Braillenote] Voltage

Dear HumanWare Staff,

I would like to make a suggestion regarding the voltage in the CompactFlash slot and the PCMCIA slot. I would like to see someway of making the voltage not just limited to a 3.3 voltage card, I would also like to see support for cards that require 5 volts. The reason this is an important piece that needs to be implemented is, it makes the user have a broader choice when it comes to choosing a card they desire. And also for the users who had 5 volts cards, they were able to use it with their BrailleNote Classics and PK, but when they purchased the mPower or got a transplant, they were no longer able to use it, it esssentially became useless. I feel this isn't something that should of been done, when products get upgraded features should be improved, not taken out. This is a restrictionn from purchasing larger storage devices, because of the voltage limitation. It is hahrd enough to purchase a piece of equipment that cost 6,000 dollars and find you have a very small window of devices that will work with it. I hope this is something that can be implemented, even if it means that users who would like this functionality must ship their unit back to Concord or New Zealand to take advantage of higher level of capacity cards.
