I wouldn't suggest you change too much to start with as you can use your .BRF files on the BN. As soon as you're comfortable, just load one and put in the information in addition to what you already have.

Before you get to this stage, you may consider learning how to change .BRF files to Keysoft Braille files. The reason I say this is that I held on to using .BRF files for quite a while and, when using another of my .BRF files, always got that annoying prompt which says the file has changed and would I like to save it as a Keysoft file. I said "No" lots of times, wondering what I'd have to know after that; but really it would have been far better to take the plunge as you don't need to go too much deeper in your learning curve to record that date. As soon as you exit the file, your data will be saved safely, unless you specifically quit without saving.

Once you're more established then you can get on to database if you wish and all the other goodies. My advice is that you just take it one step at a time.

Subject: [Braillenote] Suggestions needed

Hello list.

I know I could figure this out on my own, but I'm looking for strategies to help me make the transition from my old Braille Lite to the BN.

I used to use my BLT to keep up with my banking. I didn't do anything all that fancy. I just kept a special file called Bank where I wrote the amounts I paid out or depositedand then I added or subtracted from a memory, usually A. If I thought that maybe I had a mistake, I would use another memory to try and find the mistake. This fairly low-tech method worked pretty well for me except when I had a severe crash or cold boot, or when I just forgot to enter something.

Does anybody have a nice, fairly easy strategy for banking that doesn't take a degree in computer science? Not sure which feature to use, Keyword, the database, or what. I probably need to keep it fairly simple or I'll just quit doing it.

Thanks in advance.

Unapologetically lazy.
