Mike,
This is Joseph. Here are the steps:
. Go to www.braillenote.com. Click on BrailleNote Downloads link, and look
for KeyNote speech drivers for JAWS or similar.
2. Download the resulting zip file (this should be done on your PC).
3. Start Windows Explorer and navigate to the folder where you've
downloaded
the files. Open the .zip file. You'll see several files.
4. Copy the files called keynote.jls and keynote.jsf. Copy it to the
following location:
<defaultdrive>\Program Files\Freedom Scientific\JAWS\<version>
Where default drive refers to the drive where Windows is installed
(typically C:), and version refers to the JAWS version that you are using.
For your case, it will be:
C:\Program Files\Freedom Scientific\JAWS\7.0.
4. At the locaiton that I've specified, paste the files named keynote.jls
and keynote.jsf.
5. Shutdown Windows Explorer and shutdown JAWS with jawskey+F4. Press
enter.
5. Restart JAWS. Press Windows+R and type the followng string without any
spaces or quotes: jaws7. Press enter to restart JAWS. Before you do this
step, turn on your BN, connect the serial cable, and select Remote
Synthesizer from Main Menu.
6. To switch synthesizers, press CTRL+jawskey+s. At the list box, select
KeyNote Gold SA or BrailleNote. After you press enter, BrailleNote should
speak the contents of the screen.
When you are done, switch back to Eloquence with CTRL+jawskey+s and select
Eloquence, then press enter. Disconnect the serial cable. You are done. I
hope this information may help you.
P.S. This information has been intended for folks who use JAWS 7.0. For
JAWS
5.1 or earlier users, the path is <defaultdrive>\jaws<version> whre
version
is the actual version. The procedure has changed in JAWS 7.1 and later.
