I just do a find and replace and replace the number signs with
nothing. It works very well as long as I don't try to use
speech.

directions for downloading and formatting. That part is fine.

I set my BN up so that I have the number sign before numbers. In

other case, this is how I want it, but with the Sudoku it would

easier not to have the number sign so I can scroll up and down

and "see" the configurations but the number sign throws off the
alignment for doing this easily.
What can I do to get rid of the number sign only for working on
Sudokus?

I'd suggest doing the one that was sent out with the clues.
And just use
the clues. Don't be ashamed. It's your first puzzle, after
all. Using the
clues was what I did to get started. The clues pretty much
teach you how to
do it. Of course, you still have to practice and try
different methods for
yourself.
Do you understand the rows, columns and 3 x 3 squares? If
anybody doesn't,
I'd be happy to explain it off list. I know that a lot of us
blind people
have really bad backgrounds in concepts like graphs and xy axis,
cell
addresses and all that.

Then you start working the puzzle. You'll have to replace
the dashes with
numbers, eventually, but remember that you have to check in
three places: 1
the little block of 3 x 3 squares. 2. The row, going
across. And 3, the
column.
I'd be happy to explain tthe concepts of rows, columns and
how to identify
cells to anybody who doesn't understand the concepts of basic
graphs. Lots
of blind people have had very poor education in this area,
and sudokus are
an excellent way to learn it.
