Marlaina,
It's a key which consists of a number of digits which are then placed in the
WEP key part of the setup. You don't see this until you say that you want
to use a WEP key, so that's what you're looking for from college.
I am not the expert in telling you how to set this up at home because I only
know how to do this on my own router setup, which is perhaps more complex
than you have, as I have a hard wire router plus an add-on of a wireless
Access Point. I simply run its software to change such settings.

Hello,
A wep key is a way of making a connection secured. many places including
colleges use this and you should think of using it at home if you do not.
What this means, is that if you do not have a wep key at your home dsl,
someone driving by, can sit in front of your home and access your
connection, and if they know what they are doing, they might be able to
access any information that they can get in to.
So, you may need to contact the department at college that handles the
computer labs and websites to see if you can get this key if that is what
the problem is.
Good luck, and I hope this makes sense to you.
Robert

A wep numberr I am not sure what you mean. If you meant web
number I am not sure what that is either. I use dsl and home
connected to my laptop through active sync but I wouldn't think
that would have anything to do with it. I probably am just not
filling in one of the fields right.

Hello,
I'm not sure this is your solution, but perhaps your college
address requires a "WEP" number.

Subject: [Braillenote] college email
Hi list. I was wondering if anyone has tried to set up an email
address used in college on their bn. I have tried to set mine up
and I am getting a 171 error. I changed the smtp to what I use
for school and back to the smtp setting I use at home and also
put the user authentication to yes instead of no. I have run out
of ideas. I was able to set up my email address that I use for
this list for both my home and school internet settings just
fine.
Thanks,
Malaina
