speaking of all day events ... whenever I create one and set a reminder, for instance someone's birthday, it tells me at midnight! Well, I'm sleeping at midnight and don't want to be woken for alarms on calendars. grin. But I remember trying to type a time like 8 AM and getting some kind of error. How do you all do all day event reminders?

All day events by default have a status of free. This is because many all day events are birthdays, anniversaries etc. If you change the status of the event from free to busy, then function with N will cause them to be displayed.
