Hi All,

Well, grin, maybe I spoke too soon about sticking with ActiveSync 4.1;
although, if I want to use both my BN and IPAQ running Windows Mobile 5.0,
guess I'll have to keep up
with the times and use this version. But, when I said last weekend that I
was able to transfer files just fine between my BN and PC, I hadn't yet
tried a
Word file, only TXT and BRF and EML and JCK files. (For those who are
curious, the JCK file refers to the Just Checking program from Brent Shelton
that I use on my PC.)

Anyway, I usually like to keep at least some of my files in Word format for
what used to
be easy converting from one machine to another. But, when I tried to
ActiveSync a PWD file from the BN to a DOC file on the PC this morning,
doing so with
ActiveSync 4.1 for the first time, I got the message about unresolved items.
Then, when on the PC I entered on tools and then resolve items, I got the
following error message: Error Converting File
Cannot convert file '2'.
The converter component "CERICHED.DLL" could not be found.
OK. Then, when I entered on the OK button, I got the following message:
Synchronized Files
Synchronization cannot be completed because a file cannot be synchronized
with your
mobile device. Close all programs on your mobile device and this computer,
and
synchronize again.
OK

When I tried to convert files in the other direction, meaning from my PC to
the BN, trying to convert them from DOC to PWD files, I got the following
error when I entered on tools and then resolve items on the PC, an error
message witch opened in a separate window on the PC: Backup
Error
There was a problem backing up your Synchronized Files folder. Please close
all other
applications and try again.
OK. And, when I pressed the OK button on that, then I got the same error as
when trying to convert from PWD to DOC files: Error
Converting File
Cannot convert file 'gprs'.
The converter component "CERICHED.DLL" could not be found.
OK. Then, when I pressed OK on that, I got the following error:
Synchronized Files
Cannot copy 'gprs.doc'. Make sure your mobile device has sufficient memory,
that the
file is not set as read-only, and that you have permission to copy this file
type.
OK. Also, if I changed the conversion type to PSW rather than PWD, the
files did convert from my PC to the BN, but they were completely unreadable.

Now, when I
turned off the
conversion option in ActiveSync, then the files transferred just fine in
both directions. Well, they seemed to transfer fine in both directions, the
DOC files I tried seemed to open just fine on the BN; however, in order to
get the PWD files to open on the PC, I needed to go into the file in KeySoft
and write something and then resave the file as a PWD file and then open it
on the PC. For, if I didn't do it that way, I got this error: Microsoft
Word
This file needs to be opened by the Pocket Word Document text converter,
which may
pose a security risk if the file you are opening is a malicious file.
Choose Yes to open
this file only if you are sure it is from a trusted source.
Yes No. Then, when I said yes, I got this message: Microsoft Word
The document name or path is not valid. Try these suggestions.
* Check the file permissions for the document or drive.
* Use the File Open dialog box to locate the document.
 (gprs.pwd)
OK.

Anyone else have this happen with ActiveSync 4.1? The files all converted
just fine, meaning to PWD on the BN or DOC on the PC, when using version 3.8
of ActiveSync. And, I got the errors I just spoke of with both my PK and
mPower, both running KeySoft 7.0.
