This is Joseph. I've found (with my mPower) that there are many ways of
recalibrating a battery. Here are some of the steps:
1. Forced recalibration: As Kevin mentioned it, you can use this function
without having to disconnect the AC adapter. Liz, yes, it is possible to
recalibrate the battery without the AC adapter. All you need to do is plug
the power adapter until the battery says that it is 100 percent.
Disconnect
the charger and you can start the recalibration.
There are a number of ways:
A. Recalibration with log: there are two settings: F and G switch. Go to
Options/Support Informaiton Mode. Make sure that the BN is connected to AC
power. At the Support Information mode, press one of the following:
1. F switch: this will create a log on the KeySoft System Disk. When the
battery goes flat, this log is lost.
2. G switch: This will create a log on the Flash Disk (remember that Flash
Disk is safe when the battery goes flat). This will allow HumanWare to
determine the cause of the battery problem (I've just received an email
from
Sam from HumanWare about this).
B. Without log: Pressing R switch will start the recalibraiton immediately
without any log at all. This is similar to Classics.
Note that there are a number of command switches that are not documented.
Some of them include:
H switch (hibernation mode)
J switch (the current battery current)
P switch (the actual battery level)
