Hello Jonathan, I notice the crackling voice quite a bit. I have a new BN mPower with only GPS on it right now. When I was using the GPS yesterday for the first time I noticed a scratchiness perhaps more than a crackling. I haven't tried it without GPS as I just got the unit and haven't had much of a chance to do anything else with it.
