Ottawa Canada

The selling price of an item is not contained in its bar code but
is in a file in the store's computer or electronic cash registers
that has the selling price for each item in the store.

This way the store can easily and quickly put an item on sale or
increase its price.

The bar code printed on an item in the store is just a unique
identifying number that identifies what the product is and who
made it. E.G. large can of Campbell's condensed Cream Of Chicken
Soup.
