Hi, everyone,
I have a question that I would like to ask all of you with regard to the
Edgeport USB to parallel converter. Do any of you have one, and if so have
you used it for embossing documents, and have you ever gotten it to work? I
bought one for my husband last year for Christmas in anticipation of his
getting an MPower transplant, which finally happened and we received it on
Monday. He tried to emboss a document yesterday morning and was
unsuccessful. We called tech support and to our dismay, we were told that
it was the understanding because of driver issues that the Edgeport
converter would work for printing but possibly not for embossing. I wrote
to Jonathan about this, and he is investigating the situation. What
disturbs me more than anything is that if this converter does not work, that
it was touted as a device which worked for embossing with the BrailleNote
MPower, both in the manual and on HumanWare's web site, if my memory serves
me right. Before something is said to work, shouldn't it have been put
through a test to make sure that it would work for embossing? This item, as
I indicated to Jonathan, was pricey, and I was quite upset when tech support
indicated that it might not work. If any of you have used this device
successfully, just disregard everything I've said and I'll be a happy camper
and I'll be glad to be wrong.
Karen
