Hi Les and All, I kind of got the idea from Jonathan's message about the modifications being needed that the upgrade to 7.01 might not fix the problem. Although, of course I was going to check and see with my unit first before contacting tech support.
Now, I may have pushed my poor battery too hard in my first attempt; but, here is what I did, anyway. I had it fully charged two or three hours after I performed the upgrade on Tuesday, and it gave me both the nominal available charge and last measured discharge of 1351. Then, as I usually take my PK to work with me, I used my mPower at home maybe a half hour or so a day to transfer files via ActiveSync and Bluetooth, as well as a few other things. The battery had gotten to 68 percent by yesterday morning, and was at 63 percent when I turned it off last night and still there when I turned it on this morning. Then, well, although I hadn't done anything with the wireless since the upgrade, I decided to connect it this morning and listen to some audio streams. So, with the battery showing 63 percent and a nominal available charge of 840, I turned on the wireless and started an audio stream. I let the stream, well, I did change streams a couple of times, but I let the audio play until the battery ran down, and that took just about an hour and a half. The battery discharged pretty regularly until it got to 38 percent, with a nominal available charge of 515. Then, in the next second or so, I checked again, and the nominal available charge had dropped to 121, and in the time I checked the power level, it was showing zero and shutting off. I didn't have any chance to do anything else. Then, when I plugged in the unit and got it going again, it showed the battery charging with a last measured discharge of 1095. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Les Kriegler" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "'Braillenote List'" <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, July 08, 2006 6:53 AM Subject: RE: [Braillenote] Message concerning BrailleNote andVoiceNotemPowerBattery performance issues, from Richard MANDER Hi, Well, I'm wondering if the 7.01 upgrade fixed the battery issues? I've had rapid drops in the battery gauge, and was told yesterday that if I send my unit in next week as I planned to do, the fix could not be implemented yet. But if it's implemented in 7.01, then I'd be set? I saw reference to battery conditioning improvements, but I don't recall that being elaborated upon. Meanwhile, as I use the unit, I'm monitoring the battery gauge. It's too soone for me to tell if the rapid drop I experienced before will occur, so far, it has not. Can anybody shed light on what 7.01 has done to address battery issues? Thanks.
