Chris:
Welcome to the list.
I think you will be pleased with the BN for use at university. I use mine
to take all kinds of notes, though I am no longer a student. The next
version, 7.2, will have better scientific calculator and DAISY format
options, and these will be especially helpful to students because if the
file is created and designed properly, you will be able to navigate around
by different amounts and will be able to read with speech and follow along
with Braille. I can only imagine if people in my generation had been able
to use this technology! Even ten years ago, no, even five years ago, being
a student was very inconvenient for blind people, and we spent a lot of time
taking notes on taped books. You may not be able to avoid all this, but the
BN will certainly help.
Good luck.

Subject: [Braillenote] Introducing myself
Hello all, I am very new to this list.
I have subscribed to this list as I'm thinking of purchasing a BrailleNote
MPower for umiversity in September. I am going to study an HND in computing
information systems at the University of Central England in Birmingham. I
have been studying an AVCE in ICT at the Royal National College for the
Blind in Hereford for over 4 years, and have been using desktop/laptop
mainstream PC's. However, as I am moving onto higher education, I will need
something to write notes, for example lecture notes. Would such device help
me achieve this? And how can it help me in my course that I am doing. I have
seen and of course explored the original Braille Note at my further
education college, and I was very impressed with it, and so therefore I am
considering getting the latest Braille Note.
Thank you in advance for any help, and please e-mail me, preferably
off-list, for any comments or feedback relating to this query.
I look forward to hearing from you all.
Best regards,
Christopher Hallsworth
