A number of people have confirmed this and also that you can't record
directly onto it. This is a real shame as I didn't realise this restriction
when we purchased. However, it's great for storage.
I'd very much like to know the reason for this limitation, if anyone on the
list is knowledgeable in this area.

Hi Kathleen,
I to have the 80 GB passport from western digital. When I saw your post I
had to try it myself. It for some reason will not download to the
passport. I tried 2 different books and both times it locked my unit up.
Just thought I would share this. Maybe someone else has had better luck.
