I think it's about copywrite. Maybe some know of the recent changes in the
WebBraille system. 
Storage capasity is a nonissue now with 4 and 8 mb cards. I just saw a 4 gb
thumbdrive for $66.
I think NLS is worried about the copying of their texts as it is in
violation of their agreement with the publishers.

Supposedly it will be proprietary, made to their specifications.

Now a BrailleNote may well be able to play NLS audio files if you download
them from their web site, which I believe will be the preferred method of
distributing them, but if their cards are proprietary, you would need either
a slot for it on your BrailleNote or a card reader for it.

Presumably NLS wants a proprietary card because they are of the opinion that
no currently available memory card meets their requirements for storage
capacity, ease of handling and ruggedness.
