Please, enough is enough. Can we please except that, yes, reading all
the mail before responding would help prevent duplicates, but also that not
all of us have time to read all the mail. Just responding to this
particular thread has taken up at least 5 messages.

respond rather than to read all the mail and then respond! I am amazed

At the risk of sounding both neurotic and grumpy, I would submit that,
if people actually did read all the mail before responding to the
messages that caught their attention, it would cut down on the traffic
enormously!
I do that, for the most part, just leaving those messages in the
in-box that I think I might like to respond to, as I go through the
mail. Nine times out of ten, someone has already responded, and often
better than I could. Try it, you might like it. Personally, I think
anything that reduces the traffic on this list is a seriously good
thing.
