Maybe it would be possible to make a BrailleNote with one battery slot that fits either a replaceable or a nonreplaceable battery. That way, people could choose. HW could just have a bunch of batterless ones ready, and as soon as someone orders, either put in the replaceable battery or sodder in the nonreplaceable one. Both points of view are very valid, though.

Not everyone can really afford to be without their units for several weeks or may have the funds to replace it when replaceable one can probably be bought or made locally for much less.

Hello Listers,

I've been dealing with  braille  equpkment since it  started to
appear.  The Bn has the BESt  bettery lifeof any I've used.
SInce I  now  get atleast  18-months on a  bettery  I dont see
the advantage of   replaceable  batteries that  probably won't
last that long!

My point, With all due respect: is this a legitmate gripe?
