Chris,

At least write me privately and tell me how you got on and what you're going to do with regard to uni. I have lots of friends with youngsters of your age so am interested.

Subject: Re: [Braillenote] BrailleNote as Braille Display For PC

Aww, good luck for your surgery. Thanks for the help. I am not planning to use Dolphin's Hal as I've had issues with the product. I do, however, use Window-Eyes 5.5. I know what a braille display does, but my query was that what would Windows recognize it as if you, say, plugged in the braillenote via the serial cable. I assume if you connected it via bluetooth it would say bluetooth peripheral device, but would like to know what Windows would recognize it as if I connected it via serial. Sorry if I'm repeating myself, but I'm getting a little nervous as shortly I'll be finding out my AS level results. If it's OK, can I share my results on this list? Thanks, and good luck for surgery later.

Dear Chris:

JFW 7.0 or Window Eyes 5.5 will recognize the BrailleNote as a
BrailleNote Braille display and display the contents of the PC
screen on your display.

I changed the subject line to more accurately reflect the topic
of this message.

Since you are in the UK, I don't know if HAL or Super Nova
support the BrailleNote. You may wish to enquire of Dolphin
Systems if you plan to use one of their screen readers.

Am pulling an all-night awake session as I am due to arrive at
Day Hospital for some surgery at 6:45 and would never wake up on
time if I tried to go to sleep now!

Brian
