Hi Ann,

Here's the thing about Email folders. There really is only one copy of each
Email stored in the database, in spite of evidence to the contrary, but there
are several references to each one in different folders. I believe the "all"
folder actually contains Emails that have been saved in folders except the
InBox. Emails that are still in the InBox don't show up in any other folder,
but as soon as you move one to another folder, it shows up in the "received"
and "all" folders, as well as the folder to which it was moved. I suspect the
actual Email is stored in the "all" folder itself, and the folder to which it
was moved only contains references. For instance, I want to save an Email from
this list to my BrailleNote Email folder. I move the message from the InBox
into the BrailleNote folder. That same message will then show up in
"BrailleNote", "all", and "received". I have learned not to delete anything
from either the "received" or "all" folders. I either delete directly from the
InBox, or delete from folders I have created.

So, there are really no duplicates, and if your student deletes a message from
any of the folders, all references to it will be deleted as well.

If this is about as clear as polluted mud, let me know, and I'll try to
clarify. It's taken me several years of playing around with Keymail to figure
this out, and I could still be at least partly confused. [Smiles]

Speaking of lots of Email folders, the other day I wanted to move a message
from a list to which I had just subscribed to its own folder. When asked where
I would like to move the message, I typed the folder's name, told it to create
the new folder, and got the following message:

"All 26 folders have been used. Move this Email to which folder?"

I didn't know you could only have 26 folders. I did find out recently that it
is possible to fill the Email database so full that messages can't be moved to
the trash folder for deletion, but I didn't know about only being able to have
26 folders. Maybe I should get a life and not need 27 or more folders, but I
still wish it wasn't a limitation of Keysoft. [Smiles all around!

Anyway, I hope this information is at least somewhat helpful.

Sarah

Subject: [Braillenote] deleting emails

Hi all,

I have a student who has over sixty emails that he wishes to get rid
of. Some of them, he wants to keep in other folders, but he has
discovered that if he deletes one email in one folder, all the other
copies of the emails he has are deleted from all other folders. This
is, as you might emagine, aggravating. He wants to move his email to
folders and to delete extraneous copies without deleting the
originals. Can anyone who uses the BN for email and has lots of
folders please help?

Ann P.
