Hi Carol just so you know there is no r in my name. As for the PK it did charge for hours and we tried turning it on both ways and the only way it will turn on is by pressing c3 and c4 I think. It will not turn on or get any type of response unless in is plugged in. The battery may say 100 percent but once disconnected from the power it does nothing at all. I really think it needs a new battery.

Marlaina,

Pressing C1 and C4 will have taken it out of sleep mode. If you
were able
to then turn it off using C4, the next time she should be able to
turn on
with C1. Although, immediately you plug in, you see 100%, you do
have to
charge up the battery for a few hours before you can then use it
away from
the mains. I suggest she tries this procedure:

1) Plug the machine into the mains and leave for a few
minutes.

2) Try turning on just using C4.

If this doesn't work, use C1 and C4 and she should hear that the
machine is
coming out of sleep mode (though I can't remember exactly what it
says).

3) Turn off the machine, using just C4, and leave charging for
several
hours.

5) Remove the power cable then turning on again with C4.

If she gets a response, then I suggest she resets the unit using
C3 and C4.
If it comes up talking OK she can then check the battery with
O+Space, then
P.

Many of these other cmmands aren't available to the PK.

Come back if you need more help.

Subject: [Braillenote] pk support mode

Hi listers, I didn't get to spend a lot of time with my friend
and her pk
but what I do know is that the unit can only be turned on by
pressing the
two buttons one on the left and on on the right both on the
bottom. The
right control I think it is does not work. I was unable to get
any
information out of support mode pertaining to her battery. It
is running
keysoft 6 or 6.2 not 7 like I thought it was read I read the
packing slip.
I couldn't get a battery gage or anything. I did o chord
followed by i
chord with know luck. I was able to show her how to use the joy
stick
though. Since she isn't running 7.0 does that mean there is
no support
mode? I told her the battery will probably need to be replaced
since it
only works when plugged into the AC charger. The only info I
was able to
get was that when it is plugged in it says 100 percent. Other
than that I
am not sure. I am going to see her again on Thursday. Is there
something
that I missed about the support mode? It just beeped at me
when I tried
to get a battery gage or battery cycle reading. I was able to
get into
support mode but all I could get was the memory status.
