I requested Fed ex too, they said no, I do so because the station is about four blocks from my house so if I am not here I can collect it when I get off work I get home at about six in the evening and they are open until seven. For that reason alone I'd choose them, but then it is the way I was advised to do my Optacon some 32 years ago.
I have never had problems with Fed Ex and have tons of them with UPS because I am gone from six in the morning to six in the evening. I ship Fed Ex, but it comes home UPS every time and causes me major headaches, generally have to take a day off work and last time I did that I waited and they came after six in the evening so I could have worked had I known. And request Fed Ex return shipping. This is because in my area the FedEx driver usually gets here by 12 Noon. So I don't have to wait in all day for the crazy parcel! UPS has a habit of arriving around 1 PM at my apartment, but I've also had them show up at 6 PM. Considering what a BrailleNote is worth, it would almost be worthwhile shipping it by Brinks Express!
