Well the simplest way to avoid the cards not being recognized and having to do reset twice is don't run your unit until the battery is flat. Leaving cards in the unit discharges the battery faster than without the cards, so if you will not be using your unit, remove the SD, CF or PC/MCIA cards from it to reduce battery drain.
