Leslie,

SSID is the name of the network. Both secure and nonsecure networks have SSID.
SSID is only what the network calls itself. It does not mean the network is
secure.

KC,

I do not know. Minneapolis has so many WiFi places. While I ride on the
commute bus, my PK with WiFi card sees the WiFis but they change every few
blocks. I know WiFis are about 800 feet range. I can not find any free
hotspot. All of them are "SSID" (I guess it means secure). I never join one
of them because I know I will never go the place often.

I just surprised as I read Minneaplis will develop "citywide" WiFi. I think
iw will be good for me. I have no idea if any notetakers would access or
not. Citywide WiFi will be high speed (1 million ???).

I am still learn more about the various wireless works.

Leslie! That is fantastic! Do you know if the Minneapolis WIFI
is compatable with the PK and other Braillenote devices?
(I asked because, not long ago, some folks had trouble. They
were at a hotel where you had to use the Alternate key to
activate the WIFI. Since Braillenotes do not have an Alternate
Key, the WIFI was not accessible.
