Yesterday, while looking at an online circular for one of the big box
computer stores, I came upon a service called laptop Lojac.  I guess it
works like the lojac system which allows authorities to track stolen
cars.  Considering the cost of the Braillenote, a service like that
would be neat for the Braillenote.

I have to disagree with you on that one.  What happens if your device
gets lost or stolen?  Can you say identity theft big time in that case?
I sure can.  

You carry what you need to carry with you.  You will never eliminate the
need for separate devices for various things.  There is just no way to
do that because there is only so much you can cram into one device.  Get
real.
