Dear Tomi, This is Joseph. I'm hnot sure about PDI hooks file (I've never tried it). To shut down JAWS (yes, shutdown or exit is more appropriate here), press the key assigned as JAWS key (I've forgot the keystroke), release it, then press the key that is assigned to F4 (again, I've forgot it). I'm guessing here that you can write in contracted braille (could somebody like Paul, Rhonda, or someone clarify this?). I hope this information might help you. P.S. And Wlcome to the list! Not sure if you can change you're braille grade from computer braille to grade 2.
