Hi Carol,
The card I got on EBay was brand new, in that stupid blister pack
thing that's impossible to get into! I couldn't agree with you
more about not buying a used one! I also agree with you about the
deafening silence from HW on this! Perhaps their mothers taught
them the same as mine taught me: If you can't say something nice
..
Cheers,
Rachael

Thanks, Alex. I have only heard of people finding the Sandisk on
Ebay here
in theh UK and I wouldn't buy a second-hand one (so it would have
to be
limited to shops only). My concern is that these cards are
becoming limited
and we need more choice. I've said it before.
Perhaps I'm becoming overly concerned about this.

I have not had the best of luck with cards. My first Ambicom
lasted maybe
six or seven months, but by that time a friend had given me a
Sandisk he
did not need anymore, and I had my mPower. Then that Sandisk
died after
about five months (but I do not know its history--how often it
was used--so
I cannot say if that was bad or good). I now have a new Ambicom
(between
mine dying and my mPower) which I thought did not work. It
actually does,
but my classic does not like it--my mPower uses it fine.
So basically, I would say to just go until it dies then get a
new one
since you do not know how long one will last. Also, I recommend
the
Sandisk by far--even my mPower sometimes locks up with the
Ambicom, and
all I have to do to get the unit working again is pull out the
card. Yes,
the Sandisk is much more reliable, but remember: it does not
work in
classics.

Vicky, or anyone else for that matter -
Have you had to replace cards quite frequently? I mean, my
husband and I
have one each at present and have used his for a year and mine
for about six
months. We're wondering whether we really ought to think of
getting another
in view of comments about their failure. I've never heard
anything about
warranty time for any wireless cards so will be interested in
anything
anyone knows about this generally.

First off, no, I don't know what the warranty is on these;
however, for my
part, anyway, likely more trouble than what I would want to
bother with at
this time. But, my SanDisk card lasted about two years--well,
the
wireless
part did, anyway, and the compact flash part is still working
just fine.
And, fortunately, in my case, hearing that these were going to
be
discontinued, I purchased a couple extra cards last year.

Subject: [Braillenote] Problem With Combo Card
Hello,
Recently, the flash portion of my combo card has failed.
When I plug it in, it is seen as a network card, but it no
longer gets
recognized as a compact flash card.
Has anyone else had this problem, and does anyone know what the
warranty
is
on these Sandisk cards?
Thanks, John
