Hello List,
I suppose I'll miss Jonathan Mosen responding to queries on this list, but his work as a production manager is not the reason I selected the BrailleNote. I saw the BrailleLite, and it didn't fit my needs so I asked the most knowledgable blind access technology person I knew which of the three known notetakers would best meet my needs and my ability to learn to use it. She knew I possessed absolutely no computer experience nor was I able to use a QWERTY keyboard, so she recommended a BrailleNote. Thank you Rhonda Clark. With the exception of Dean Jackson, who would call me personally from New Zealand to help me solve BrailleNote problems, or Chris Polk, who is no longer allowed to speak with us, NO Pulsedata or Humanware employee has said or done anything to encourage or promote these products for me or my friends who have purchased Braille, Voice notes, or PK's since 2002. In fact, if I had to depend on anything most Humanware California employees say or the responses I receive from upper management here or in New Zealand, I'd probably own that rival product with Sense in it's name. Since Dean died, the only people in New Zealand who even talk with us are Andrew Ridden and the lady who edits the manual and neither is a decision maker. Jonathan Mosen did an excellent job as a production Manager and list moderator, at least if the list's comments are any indication of his abilities. He said the things about the product that Pulsedata and later Humanware required him to say and evidently "HE" did a great job because according to some of you, he sold you the product. However, anyone reading or listening to these company orientated spiels should know that a sales manager selling Fords may be driving a Mercedes. Quoting the company's ideology is not a sign of absolute faith in it's products. Since I am not computer (personal, not Braillenote) literate, I was never able to hear his "mosen Explosion, or his Blog (whatever that is) nor did I ever meet him at a convention. One of his values to me, was that like Dean, he would answer an off-line message directly and promptly. Questions posed this way were never about how great Humanware's products were, but things like why I couldn't send a complete folder as an attachment with my MPower. Therefore, his move is not shocking or a betrayal for me, but I do hope his replacement is as easy to reach and is as accommodating as he and Dean always were. however if this move is a promotion, more money, and the opportunity to live where he wishes, then my very best to him. Good luck on your new employment Jonathan -- I hope you are as successful at Freedom Scientific as you were at Pulsedata-Humanware. Even without Jonathan as our production manager, list moderator, or internet guru (for those of us with computers), I love my BrailleNote MPower and the Classic I have and at present, I have no intension of moving to another product. For me, my interest in these devices is the song, not the singer! With that said, I sincerely hope that Humanware's products continue to perform as each new upgrade promises that it will. I also hope that the battery problem will be solved, better more responsive technical support and repair times are established, and that no customers are left dissatisfied after talking with any Humanware employees, including mid and upper management. This message would have been sent earlier, but I was traveling and could not send or receive from the hotels I stayed in. It is greatly desired that whatever prevents my notetaker getting through security blocks will be fixed so I can send and receive wirelessly wherever I am. Even a fee to use some hot spots is preferable to downloading and trying to make sense of more than a thousand messages after a six day vacation because I expected to be able to do this each evening as I traveled. Okay, no more rambling, Jonathan Mosen's job with Humanware was to tell us if our concerns were feasible or why they couldn't be done using windows CE. ! He did his job, but he did not own the company, and had to work within the scope his job and upper management allowed. Lets hope his replacement is as knowledgable as Jonathan, will put all those tutorials and blogs you like on the internet, will answer any questions we have no matter how stupid it may be, and our time with this new person is as smooth and comfortable as it was with him.

Sammie Clay

My two cents once more:

If you believe in the product you are using, I don't know that it
makes a difference who convinced you to buy it. If you like your
equipment, people coming and going won't change your machine.
It's kind of like TV commercials; one time you'll see someone
advertise one product, then, another.

As I said, I do wish we had heard from Jonathan personally. I
don't know what he could have said. However, him leaving won't
change the use of this product. You can't like a product because
of who sold it to you.

Yes, I'm rambling again. I believe in this product. I believe
in this list, and the love that comes from it. There are so many
wonderful people here. If we stick together, much will be
accomplished. Speculation won't change this product, nor will it
help new members who have joined this list. I believe in all of
you, and I believe this product can be a great one.> -----

I feel the same way that you do, Shane in that I felt comfortable
investing in the MPower because Jonathan endorsed it. Now it
seems
that we won't really know which product he truly believes in.
Like
most everything else, it's more than likely all about money, and
when
it comes to those of us who need to make decisions as to which
products to go with, it's not like a lot of us have money to
burn. I
just hope that we don't end up with equipment that is no longer
updated and can't be repaired.
