YOu need to make sure that you are looking at GPS and GPRS.
There is a difference. GPS is the staelite systeme and I
beliieve wayfinder does require a monthly fee but no other system
requres fees after the original purchase. GPRS on the other hand
is actually data transfer on your cell phone and there is always
a montly fee associated with theis service.

I don't know since I don't use GPS on my cell phone. If your
talking about the GPS system for the braille note then no you
don't pay monthly. It is a software component and a receiver
component that can detect sattellights. It is expensive though
around 2000 dollars. This is just an estimate dollar amount. I
