Hi Again Chris;
You might want to take her to a location like the NFB, in Baltimore.
There they have a demo unit of almost all devices available for the
blind and handicapped. I came close to getting one of those units where
you had to do the talking to the computer. I count my blessings that I
did not get one. I am a lot more independent with my Jaws, a computer
and my M-power. If she knows enough to learn Braille or type, she
should be able to learn some of the simple features to keep an address
book and take notes and after she is very comfortable with these 2
tasks, then you can teach her a new task. Someone with a learning
problem learns better, one on one.
NFB should be able to give you other sites that have equipment on
display.
Good luck.
I am glad you are willing to help her.

Chris:

Although I think that the Braille Note is a good choice I think that you
should look at other alternatives. With a pc for example there are
programs
that do word prediction and have grammar checking tools. Although they
aren't foolproof. Also I might seriously consider voice dictation. Many
People who have learning's disabilities can articulate better than they
can
write.

Hi all,
I would like to make some enquiries. I was just wondering whether my
girlfriend, who suffers from severe learning difficulties due to a rare
genetic disorder, would benefit with a Braillenote MPower? If so what
could
she gain from it? Her name is Hannah Day.
Thanks.
