I just tried this and it definitely works in non-.brf files. I never knew about this feature before and I don't recall reading it when I had Keysoft 6.1. I bought my BrailleNote QT in June of 2005. At that time I started with Keysoft 5.1 and 6.1 came out shortly thereafter. I don't remember seeing use g to start reading and space to stop. Maybe it was there and I just missed it. Also, you definitely can't check the battery status from within a .brf by pressing read with escape on the QT.

Hello,
No because hitting just space works with any other text documents. I also noticed that when reading a book with the .brf extension you cannot check the battery level by hitting read with escape, but you can with any other type of document.

Wasn't the actual command to stop reading read with space? Could the just pushing the space bar have been a "bug?"Just throwing my 2 cents onto the coals.

But that's not the way it works with text files, nor was it the way it
worked with brf files prior to this release.

Can you try pressing another key other than the space bar to stop
reading? I would expect your experience to be normal behavior since the
cursor doesn't move as you are reading continuously. Pressing the space
bar would put you back near the place you started because that might be
where the cursor was located. Just a thought.

Subject: [Braillenote] a possible bug with the book reader

Hello all,
I have found a possible bug in the book reader after installing 7.2 on
my bn classic with a qwerty keyboard. When reading a book with the .brf
extension if you hit the spacebar to stop reading it will put me back to
the place I started reading instead of the place where I pressed the
space bar. Also instead of pressing just the letter G to start reading
I have to press read with G. These problems only occur with books with
the .brf extension. Keyword documents work fine in the book reader.
Thanks Greg
