Dear Sarah,

I'm sure you are aware that I truly respect you and believe that you, personally, my regard braille-use highly. However, I have present, in a varietyity of situation, in company with a number of persons who are blind. (We even have an agency right here in this City, where they don't include in their teaching equipment, even one braille displays.) IN any case, very few blind folks of my acquaintance "RELY" on braille. They may have a braille display at their fingertips, but it is a used as a back-up.

Let me put it another way. According to national statistics, only a very small percentage of folks who are blind read braille.

For the record, I realize, only too well, that the majority rules. In our society, when it comes to assistive technology, speech output rules. It is a factof life with which folks who are deaf-blind must accept.
