Richard,

Go to Options Menu, than select Support Information Mode with space with
I
(Read+i). Press space with I (Read+I) again. That should give you amount
of
RAM that KeySoft and other programs are using, as well as how much space
that is used by KeySoft system disk.

How do you check memory status?

Mary Ellen,
To your questions, the answer is no. I do not work for HumanWare because
I'm
a high school student, and I'm not an engineer for them either, although
my
ambition is to become one (computer scientist or information technology
specialist). The reason why I know many technical stuff is that I
usually
search online. Also, I usually do my own investigation, such as:
1. I have tweaked my braille display when something went wrong.
2. I've read the User Guides for all of the units throughly.
3. Received information from help messages.
Listened to various product demonstrations, tutorials, a alike.
5. Have occasionally corresponded with some HumanWare staf, including
Jonathan Mosen, Jonathan Sharp, Andrew Riden, late Dean Jackson, and
Kate
Dasler, especially Andrew.
6. If there is some kind of software problem, I first check the memory
amount to see if it is related to memory management (that is why I have
told
Vicky that she should check the memory status regularly back when she
and
others had download problem with 7.0).

So far, I've figured out the following:
1. Actually, under the braille display, there is a spring that controls
touch cursor keys. If one of the cursor key does not work, probably the
srping is damaged.
2. The reason why you cannot use other programs when Wloquence is active
is
that Eloquence tend to eat (use) more memory than KeyNote Gold (about
1.5 to
2 MB of RAM is used).
3. There is an easy way to figure out when the battery doesn't charge on
the
mPower: between the USB client port and the CF slot, you'll notice that
there is a space. Behind that space is the actual battery comparment.
While
you are charging, if you put one or two fingers on that space, you'll
notice
that it gets hot. When you check the power status and notices that the
battery has stopped charging in the middle, check this space. You'll
feel
that it is extremely hot. Disconnect the power adapter for 3 to 5
minutes,
and the temperature will go down somewhat. Then it will restart charing.
I
would recommend that you charge your unit while it is powered up.
4. In fact, you can upgrade your BN from the boot menu. When you
installed
the product key, insert the SD card. Hold down dots 4-6 a dn press Reset
switch. Hold down dots 4-6 (JL) until unit makes a sound. You've entered
Update Menu. The options are:
1. Upgrade KeySoft: this is what you want to choose (same effect as dots
4-5
(JK) reset.
2. Update bootloader: useful for an OS upgrade.
3. Debug mode: I don't know why it is there.
4. Start KeySoft: this is equavelent to pressing Reset. If you wish to
get
out of boot menu, select this option, or press Reset.
Yoou can only use space to move forward the menu.
5. In fact, with Eloquence, you can change the alarm sounds. These are
named
keysoft alarm1.wav and keysoft alarm2.wav. Copy two wav file to Windows
folder on the KeySoft disk and rename each to keysoft alarm1 and keysoft
alarm2.

I hope this post might give you some information that is valuable to
you.

Hay Joseph!
Do you work for human? You seem to know so much about the products and
their
inner workings I was just wondering if you are an engineer for them?
Just curious.
