Richard and list,
Ahe loss of data will ONLY occur if you had to do Service Reset and other
Resets when you were running a program that accessed the cards e.g.
reading
a book from a PC card, playing a audio file from an SD card, etc. When you
return to Main Menu and then if you perform Reset, you won't lose data.

And perhaps you have not, but it is recommended that you remove all cards
during a service reset. This is probably because when you perform this
particular reset, the mPower is momentarily disconnected from the power
supply thus causing a fluctuation in voltage. This is one of those things
that is somewhat vague.
I have known people to lose whole cards full of data for no apparent
reason,
and I have known others to have never experienced a problem.
HumanWare did advise that we should remove all storage devices during any
reset. To be fair, I certainly haven't always done this, and I haven't
lost
data from storage cards. (knock on silicon)

I've never lost information on my cards when I did a service reset.

: The only thing you need to remember with a service reset is to
: remove your cards, incase you lose information.
