That is because the sound card drivers does not support it.

Thanks for your enlightenment.  I'm very disappointed there is no variable
speed for mp3 files. When they said they were introducing the Daisy support,
I thought it would be like the desktop Daisy players where you can adjust
the rate of playback of ANY audio file on the CD whether it's an actual
Daisy markup or mp3 or whatever.

I have little value for the mPower Daisy playback then, because any Daisy
books I get are already on CD and I may as well use the CD Daisy Player.  It
would make no sense to take the CD, copy it to a card and put it in the
mPower.

The audio files available for download from the CNIB library are all mp3
files, and I'm still stuck with listening to them at normal speed which I
can't stand.

This was an upgrade I was really looking forward to, but it won't change how
I access my listening material then.

 I'm very disappointed.
