I don't see why this is seen as unusual.  K1000 and Openbook have had
competitive upgrade programs for years.

My initial reaction was the same as yours.  After thinking about it,
perhaps there is some good in this.  After all, people need to
understand the approach being taken by Freedom Scientific.  This is a
major development, and people might as well know what's going on so they
can plan appropriately.  We know of an individual who stated publicly he
is running out to buy a unit.  I'd suggest a more deliberate approach,
for as someone said, getting another unit is only one part of the
equation.  I think it's unfortunate that this market is going in the
direction it is, there's going to be a lot of hard feelings across the
board.

I think it is totally inappropriate to advertise a competing product on
the braillenote list.  Doesn't anyone have any class or consideration
for list owners anymore?  

I wouldn't blame hw if they shut this list down first thing Monday
morning their time.
